Previously to 1998, manufacturing was undertaken in NZ but due to the prevailing economic conditions at the time, compounded by high sea freight costs and the geophysical position of NZ to European markets, HIL negotiated through a third party business associate in Hong Kong, the transfer of the complete production tooling and dies to China.
Through this association, mandatory manufacturing standards were introduce and continually monitored, incorporating a final Quality Control Certification. This program ensures that the high degree of quality and reliability are still maintained which has placed the ‘EZIDRI’ Dehydrator at the front edge of International dominance as verified by the numerous countries of distribution.
HIL’s more recent addition to the product range is the ‘ANUKA’ electric food smoker. Developed and designed entirely ‘in-house’ over a 6 year period, the Anuka is a product that is quite unique in the world appliance market and duplicates the taste of traditional smoking without the intricacies and mess of a fuel-burning smoker. Its non-stick coating, dishwasher safe material and auto-timing mechanism also ensures easy operation and cleaning.
